Description: |
This two-day course dealing with the theoretical and
practical aspects of turbomachinery design and analysis
emphasizes the use of the ANSYS CFX computational fluid
dynamics code and related ANSYS tools. Theoretical aspects
cover the basic governing equations for turbomachinery
analysis, including their usage in a one-dimensional
framework as well as within the context of a 3-D CFD code.
Calculation of loss mechanisms and efficiency are covered,
and basic design procedures for a variety of machines are
presented. The course includes a review of best-practice
application of CFD to selected example cases.
The hands-on portion of the course guides the participant
in the use of all ANSYS tools applicable to turbomachinery
analysis. Tools include one-dimensional sizing and basic
design, geometry specification, mesh generation, case set
up, CFD code analysis and post-processing, as well as some
related modal and stress analysis.
