STAR-CD + CHEMKIN: New Fully Integrated CFD and Stiff-Chemistry Solver
Learn how to use STAR-CD with CHEMKIN.
Date: April 17, 2002
Location: London, United Kingdom
Web Page: http://www.cd.co.uk/company/chemkinUK.htm
Contact Email: info@cd.co.uk
Organizer: CD-adapco Group
Special Fields: Reactive Flows
Softwares: STAR-CD, Chemkin
Type of Event: Course, International

Description:

This course, taught by CD adapco Group instructors, introduces users to the new STAR-CD+CHEMKIN capabilities. The course can be taken as a single day or in conjunction with one of the adjoining "CHEMKIN: Fundamentals and Applications" courses. The day will focus on simulating reacting flows using this new product, and will include lectures and hands-on examples for both gas and surface phase problems. Please note that registration for this course is separate from the adjoining CHEMKIN courses, and requires an additional registration fee.

STAR-CD+CHEMKIN combines STAR-CD, a leading code for multidimensional flow analysis, with CHEMKIN and SURFACE CHEMKIN, the leading software for chemistry and surface chemistry analysis. For STAR-CD users, a seamless methodology now exists for developing and testing reduced n-step chemistry mechanisms using CHEMKIN and then applying these mechanisms directly in their multi-dimensional flow simulations. CHEMKIN provides a means for studying complex chemistry in a wide range of classic problems, such as perfectly stirred and plug flow reactors, as a prelude to reacting flow simulations with STAR-CD. SURFACE CHEMKIN adds a sophisticated means of incorporating detailed surface chemistry in STAR-CD simulations, which is particularly important for modeling catalyst systems. For CHEMKIN users, STAR-CD provides the capability of extending their analyses of chemically reacting systems to include full 3-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in geometrically complex systems with turbulence, sprays, radiation, buoyancy, and other transport phenomena.
