Description: |
CFD is increasingly used in engineering design, safety
analysis and environmental assessments. A key question
which arises is the accuracy of CFD simulation, especially
when test or field data for validation is sparse. This
seminar brings together current and potential users of CFD
to examine the quantification of uncertainty for industrial
and environmental applications:
- appropriate measures by which to judge the fidelity
of CFD;
- minimising uncertainty in CFD applications;
- validation;
- challenges that arise in quantifying uncertainty,
and solutions.
Methodologies to obtain reliable and consistent results
from CFD are of prime importance in reducing uncertainty.
The seminar will therefore also illustrate best practice in
CFD, highlighting findings which have wider relevance and
impact.
This will be the third joint meeting on this theme co-
organised by NAFEMS and ERCOFTAC. It follows successful
meetings in March 2004 and September 2005.
Speakers are Bernard Geurts (University of Twente, Ian
Cowan (Atkins), Adrian Kelsey (Health & Safety Laboratory),
Yehuda Sinai (ANSYS Europe), David Hargreaves (University
of Nottingham), Ivar Iversen (Prospect), Steve Graham
(Nexia Solutions), Jim Shaikh (Intelligent Fluid Solutions)
and Fred Mendonca (CD-adapco)
