The 2023 CONVERGE Academic Competition is open. Applications 
to enter will be accepted until December 15, 2022. Final 
project submissions are due July 31, 2023. Current graduate 
students can enter. Competition participants will be tasked 
with designing and running a novel CONVERGE simulation. While 
participants may choose from the range of applications for 
which CONVERGE is commonly used, they are encouraged to 
consider alternative applications. All active participants 
receive a CONVERGE academic license and project support from 
application engineers for the duration of the competition.

Final project submissions will be judged by a panel of experts 
on a number of criteria, e.g., how well the simulation 
reflects the real world, the engineering knowledge required to 
conceive and run the case, and the novel contribution of the 
project to the engineering community. Simulations can be 
entered in one of four categories: reacting flow and 
chemistry, conjugate heat transfer (CHT), multi-phase flow, or 
fluid-structure interaction (FSI). Prizes will be awarded in 
two categories: new and existing CONVERGE users. First place 
in each category wins $2000; second place wins $1000; third 
place wins $500.
