Prof. Dr. Tom Verstraete of von Karman Institute for Fluid 
Dynamics, who will lead the audience “Towards Gradient-Based 
Optimisation of Turbomachinery Designs” and Dr.-Ing. Edmund 
Kügeler of Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR). His 
presentation is titled „From Research to Application: Advanced 
Methods on the Move” and reports on DLR’s progress in 
developing innovative numerical methods.
