Description: | |
From its origins as a tool primarily for use in aerodynamics, usage of computational fluid dynamics has spread to a wide range of other fields, such as plasma instability studies in fusion, biofluid mechanics, species studies in quantum chemistry, geophysics, atmospheric flows, and so on. Each subspecialty has made its own advances on the state of the art, but thirst for larger memory and faster computational execution time is pretty universal. The challenges in CFD have certainly not been limited to aerospace applications alone, as marine scientists and other non-aeronautical researchers have shared the frustrations of turbulence modelling, accurately simulating transient phenomena fundamental to viscous flows, or even the inadequacies of background meshes to resolve the intricacies of small-scale effects. This year's conference seeks to identify future trends in CFD particularly with reference to unsteady flow studies, scope of turbulence modeling including advances in LES and DNS and other grid convergence related problems universal to numerical modeling. Contributions from all sectors are solicited, across the full spectrum of CFD research and applications, including, but not restricted to: Automotive Environmental Multi phase Flows Flows Aerospace Non Newtonian Fluid Structure Flows Aero acoustics Interactions Turbulence Algorithms Free Surface flows Modeling Atmospheric Flows Heat and Mass Transfer Bio fluid Mechanics Industrial Applications Combustion Location CFD 2004 will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ottawa, hosted by the Institute for Aerospace Research (IAR) of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). The Crowne Plaza Hotel is located in downtown Ottawa and is within walking distance from Parliament Hill, world-class museums and close to many excellent restaurants and shops. The downtown area is easily accessible from Ottawa International Airport. Technical Program The format of the conference will be similar to that in past years, including (in addition to contributed papers) 3 or 4 Keynote lectures (topics and speakers TBA) Hardware and software vendor exhibits Code validation challenge Student paper competition Reception and banquet The official languages for CFD 2004 will be English and French. Papers and presentations will be accepted in either language however, no simultaneous interpretation will be provided at the conference. Instructions for Preparing Abstracts All abstracts received by the deadline date of December 16, 2003 will be reviewed provided that the abstract is received in an MS WORD or PDF document for PC (only electronic submissions will be accepted for review). The submission of abstracts will be reviewed for presentation and must be prepared in strict adherence to the instructions listed below (sample of abstract format follows instructions) : 1) Please type, single spaced, an abstract of no more than 1000 words (2 pages of 8.5 x 11) in Times Roman 12 pt or similar proportional typeface. Figures, tables can be added. 2) The title should be brief (15 words or less) and specific; it should reflect the content of the presentation. Please do not use abbreviations in the title. Type in upper case letters using 12 pt Times Roman, centre text and bold. This should be followed by two blank lines. 3) Using no more than 120 characters, type author (s) name (s), initial (s) in italics, upper and lower case letters; underline the name of the presenting author. The affiliation, city, country are to be in upper and lower case. 4) Allow two blank lines between the authors and affiliations and the beginning of the abstract. 5) The abstract should substantially outline the content of the presentation, including conclusions. Text should be left and right justified leaving a 1 margin on both sides as well as 1 on each of the top and bottom of the page. Type in upper and lower case letters. DO NOT EXCEED the two-page 1000-WORD LIMIT. 6) Any equations, graphs, etc. within the abstract should be clearly typed and not handwritten.
