Position: PhD Researcher in Offshore Wind Farm Flow Dynamics

We are in search of a dedicated PhD student to delve into the flow dynamics
within offshore wind farms using innovative computer simulations. With the
burgeoning size of wind turbines and farms, particularly offshore, they
encounter novel challenges arising from unique atmospheric turbulence that
remains poorly understood.
This PhD project forms a pivotal component of the UMRP collaboration between
UM6P and MIT, dedicated to advancing and implementing groundbreaking large-eddy
simulation techniques to investigate the potential deployment of offshore wind
farms in Morocco. Your research will entail dissecting the intricate
interactions between wind and waves, with a keen focus on evaluating their
collective impact on the efficiency of wind farms.

We are seeking motivated early-career researchers with a robust foundation in
fluid dynamics, mechanical engineering, computational physics, applied physics,
mathematics, geophysics, or related fields. Proficiency in programming languages
such as Fortran, C/C++, and/or Python is advantageous. Ideal candidates will
thrive in an international setting, actively contributing to collaborative
research endeavors. Strong communication skills, coupled with a readiness to
present findings at conferences and meetings, are highly desirable. Proficiency
in both spoken and written English is imperative. We encourage candidates to
embrace a high degree of responsibility and exhibit independence while fostering
close collaborations with colleagues.
