Description: | |
At the Chair of Mechanical Process Engineering (http://www.mvt.ovgu.de) we are a group of enthusiastic researchers with intensive research activities in the numerical modelling of multiphase flows. As part of our research on particle laden flows, we study the complex behaviour of dispersed particles in incompressible and compressible turbulent flows, particle-turbulence interactions, the influence of particle shape as well as applications featuring particle-laden flows. The objective of the advertised position is to develop novel computational models to accurately describe particle-laden flows based on direct numerical simulations (DNS). This will include contributing to the development and numerical models in our in-house CFD code, conducting systematic numerical studies, and contributing to the writing of research papers. In particular, this involves developing and implementing new modeling approaches for immersed boundary methods and discrete element models. This project is part of the DFG Collaborative Research Center “Bulk Reaction”, focusing on understanding the interaction of granular assemblies with flows. Your primary responsibilities: - Design, execution and analysis of numerical methods to predict the behaviour of particles in fluid flows. - Participation in the development of our in-house simulation tools in C and MPI. - Writing scientific papers on the research. Your profile: - PhD degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, aeronautical engineering, applied mathematics, physics or a related discipline. - Proven track record in working with numerical methods. - Proven coding experience in C, C++ or Fortran in the context of numerical modelling. - Proven experience in computational fluid dynamics. Experience with direct numerical simulations and/or immersed boundary methods is desirable. - Fluent command of written and spoken English is required. Please send your complete application (motivation letter, curriculum vitae, graduation certificates, references) by November 28, 2024 using the online application portal: https://ovgu.b-ite.careers/e355r |
