I started working for Control Data as a summer intern in 1984 working on the ICEM CFD CAD product. I received my BA in math and physics from Berkeley in 1986. I worked at Control Data for a year before returning to Berkeley to get my PhD in Computer Science. My thesis was on surface intersection algorithms. I received my PhD in 1992. I started ICEM CFD Engineering with Armin Wulf and Wayne Christopher on 1991 (yes, before graduating). ICEM CFD was a pre-processor (mesh generator) for CFD. We sold ICEM CFD to Ansys in 2000. At Ansys I was the CTO for the business unit that included ICEM CFD. As Ansys worked to integrate all of the meshing technology that it had acquired from ICEM CFD, Fluent, CFX and FIDAP, I acquired the title of Chief Mesh Technologist for Ansys. Shortly thereafter, I left Ansys to start Ennova Technologies where I work to create highly scalable and automatic mesh generation tools for CFD.
