CFD in Steel Industry is being used in a big way to optimise the processes. High temperature and visual opacity of the liquid steel makes it difficult to carry out full scale plant trials. CFD has been useful to visualize the flow of steel in the industrial vessels and improve its performance. Its typical uses has been in a)Optimisation of tundish performance b) Gas stirring of ladles c) Improvement in SEN design for slab casters d) Optimisation of thermal regimes of reheating furnaces etc.
